BladesApr 01, 2013
It is a rescueBot and one we could not find in stores. My son loves it, I assume it is awesome based on his continual need to thank me for buying it for him.

great for toddlersApr 10, 2013

our 3 year old loves these. we purchased the complete set of 4 - Heatwave, Chase, Boulder, and Blades. he watches them on Netflix so they get lots of play time. these are very easy for kids to transform...not like the more complicated ones you can buy for older kids. actually, our oldest (7yrs) likes to play with them as well. they tend to get jammed if you play with them in the sandbox. fortunately, you can wash them out...they make good tub toys.

only okay, not suitable/interesting for kids over 4 in my opinionNov 03, 2013
I already reviewed Boulder's but I will post the same review here, as they are basically the same toy.
This toy seems fairly durable(we will see how long the blade parts last- though it's not super fragile), and overall a decent toy. The reason I gave it three stars is because I thought it would take a step or two to transform (like push a button and push the head in, simple but still requires them to do something). Instead it takes a half of a step if you can even call it that...pull up, which is waay too easy for most 4 year olds- which makes them no different than any other car. I will explain further below. Case in point my four year old son isn't all that into it, and he even likes watching rescue bots. However my youngest son who is 1 likes them. I think they would be best suited for 2-3 year olds, and maybe a tiny bit older if they are huge Rescue bot/ transformer buffs. I can not see a 5-7 year old liking these or playing with them for more than a few minutes.
Overall though the toy is good, I just feel it is a stretch to call it a "transfomer" when you barely have to do anything to it. I purchased three of them: boulder, blades, and Optimus Prime and the packaging gives you the idea that you have to do something to transform it but in all actuality the bot transforms by just pulling it/pushing it. For instance in Blade's case there is a button at the top of his blades that you twist to transform and while this does make it transform, you also can just push the arms back (which usually happens on accident anyways) and it transforms as well which kind of defeats the purpose of having a "button" and makes it uninteresting to the kids.
The other feature I do not like is their arms move in only one direction...out and in Boulder's case (in blades case they just rotate 90 degrees forward-they don't even lift) so they can't even play with them really as a Transformer as you can't move their legs or lift their arms. Maybe I was looking for too much in a toy but I would have thought these could be a little more interesting.

Our six year old now has all the bots. Not bad for one birthday. Copter is one of his favorites.
